For years, I’ve considered myself the “encouraging” friend who helped my friends in their time of need. From heartbreak-to-hardships, I’ve often been the one to offer a listening ear, sound advice, and the right words.
There was a time when I needed the listening ear and comforting words, but decided to hide behind my pain.
Until I could no longer hide…
Until I was on the verge of a mental break down…
Until my marriage was on the rocks…
Until I realized I was a in dysfunctional and emotionally abusive relationship…
Until I woke up one day and no longer knew who I was…
That was the day I made the decision to stop hiding behind my pain, and to take a step in the right direction to get the support I needed.
After reading what felt like every book about marriage, forgiveness, and relationships, I shamefully walked into that first therapy session with my head held low carrying my two young children with me.
My children witnessed one of my lowest points as I sat in that chair confessing how I could no longer do it on my own. However, it was in that chair where I slowly began to shift from pain to purpose.
I began to shift WHO I showed up as, and HOW I showed up in my life and relationships.
Oftentimes, women think that leaving an unhealthy relationship is about finding the right one with whom they can the spend the rest of their life.
But, if I haven’t learned anything else, I know my journey was more about ME becoming the one I was happy to wake up to every morning and spend the rest of my life with.
And, that’s what my mission is about: helping women to discover WHO they are so they can change HOW they show up in their life and relationships. Not just your romantic relationship.
On Saturday, March 27th, we will celebrate this journey of becoming. We will be talking about each woman’s journey of healing, forgiveness, self-love, and grace. Most importantly, we will honor each woman’s decision to shift from pain to PURPOSE.
We will share our raw truths with the hopes to encourage and awaken the woman who feels she is alone on her journey.
